There are nine possible endings that can be obtained in Titanic: Adventure out of Time. Which ending you get depends directly on whether or not Frank Carlson retrieves any or all of the plot important items: the Rubaiyat, the painting, the necklace of diamonds and the notebook.

The Rubiayat and the necklace are linked to the same ending: Whether or not they leave the ship with Vlad Demonic or not. It is not possible for Vlad to fail to escape the Titanic. If Vlad has any or both of these items, the ending is treated as a failure. If both items either leave the ship with Carlson or are lost at cards with Buick Riviera, the ending is a success.

The painting and the notebook are each tied to a different ending. However, these items must leave the ship with Carlson to be counted as success. If the painting goes down with the ship or leaves with Colonel Zeitel, it is a failure. If the notebook goes down with the ship or leaves with Vlad, that is a failure.

Saving all four of the items results in the best ending where both World Wars and the Russian Revolution are averted and the world is at peace. Saving none of the items results in history playing out exactly as it had done before with both WWI and WWII taking place.

Saving some of the items but not others however, results in serious consequences within Germany, Russia, or both of them. In all of these scenarios, either the Nazis or the Soviets succeed in achieving world domination - through either conquering each other and then Britain, or by developing fully functional advanced weapons of mass destruction much earlier than the Allies.

It is also worth noting that only the perfect ending results in Carlson actually staying alive - in all other endings he is killed resulting in a 'Game Over'.

The Possible Outcomes in DetailEdit

Total Mission failureEdit

1) Regardless of what key items he has obtained, Carlson fails to find a lifeboat and goes down with the Titanic, along with all the evidence he was carrying. Not an actual ending as such, but results in a Game Over. Presumably, this results in history playing out unchanged if Vlad got the Rubayiat and/or the real necklace, or in a Nuclear Germany if both of them were lost.

Communist GermanyEdit

  • Rubaiyat and/or real necklace: Vlad
  • Notebook: Carlson
  • Painting: Carlson

2)  World War I broke out because Vlad had either the real necklace or the Rubaiyat with which to finance the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The Communist takeover of Russia did not happen, because you saved the notebook and Lenin, Trotsky, and other Communist revolutionaries were killed. World War II did not happen, because Hitler was successful as an artist. As a result, the Communists seized power in Berlin instead of the Nazis, became powerful and took a totally off-guard Europe and Britain by surprise, conquering them and uniting them into a single Communist super-state. Carlson is shot by a German Communist Fighter.

The Soviets winEdit

  • Notebook: Lost
  • Painting: Carlson

3) Rubaiyat AND real necklace: Carlson / lost. There was no World War I, but the Communists seized power from the Czar in Russia. Hitler became a famous and successful painter and was not available to unite a deeply fractured and weakened Germany against the warmongering Soviets, who invaded and conquered a weak Europe. Britain was forced into surrender, and Europe was united into a single Soviet Socialist Republic. Carlson is shot by a Red Army Serzhant.

4) Rubaiyat and/or real necklace: Vlad. World War I happened, but the Communists took over Russia. Hitler never came to power in Germany, instead becoming a successful artist in a country devastated by the depression and a humiliating World War I defeat. When the Russians invaded, they could not resist. And neither could Britain. All of Europe, including Britain, is united in a Soviet Socialist Republic. Carlson is shot by a Red Army Serzhant.

The Nazis winEdit

  • Notebook: Carlson
  • Painting: Lost

5) Rubaiyat and/or real necklace: Vlad. World War I occurred on schedule, because Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated. However, the Russian Revolution never happened, because Lenin and the other revolutionaries were killed. When Hitler came to power and started World War II, the Russian Czar’s regime was too weak to resist and surrendered to the Germans. With the Eastern Front won, Hitler turned the full might of the Third Reich onto an exhausted Britain, which was forced to surrender three days ago. Winston Churchill had been captured and was hung yesterday. The British Empire and Commonwealth is no more. Carlson is shot by a Nazi SS Stormtrooper.

6) Rubaiyat AND real necklace: Carlson / lost. World War 1 does not occur, and neither does the Russian Revolution. In 1927, Hitler overthrew the Kaiser and started World War II. The Russian Czar’s regime was too weak to resist and surrendered to the Germans. With the Eastern Front won, Hitler turned the full might of the Third Reich onto Britain, which was completely caught by surprise was forced to surrender three days ago. Winston Churchill had been captured and was hung yesterday. The British Empire and Commonwealth is no more. Screams and gunfire can be heard outside, before a Nazi Officer enters and shoots Carlson.

Nuclear GermanyEdit

  • Rubaiyat AND real necklace: Carlson / lost
  • Notebook: Lost
  • Painting: Lost

7) This scenario occurs when all key items go down with the ship. World War I does not occur, but the Russian Revolution does. In 1927, Hitler overthrew the Kaiser and channelled the full power of a Germany unweakened by World War I into industry and high-tech weapons. Germany developed the first atomic bomb in 1939. The West, weakened by several decades of complacency, now finds itself facing a nuclear-armed Germany, ruled by a dangerous maniac, bent on world-domination. London is vapourised by a Nazi atomic bomb.

UnchangedEdit

  • Rubaiyat and/or real necklace: Vlad
  • Notebook: Lost
  • Painting: Lost

8) This is the version of history that really happened, the one you’re trying to change. World War I happened, the Soviets took over Russia, and World War II took place on schedule. Carlson ends up in that same London flat in 1942 again… if only the past could be changed playing around in his head once more. Carlson is killed in the original bomb blast that sent him back in time.

Perfect GameEdit

  • Rubaiyat AND real necklace: Carlson / lost
  • Notebook: Carlson
  • Painting: Carlson

9) World War I never happened. The Communist revolution was aborted and they never took power in Russia. Hitler became a famous painter in Germany and never took power. World War II never happened. Mankind entered an age of unparalelled peace and prosperity that flowed into every corner of the globe. Today, April 14th, 1942, Carlson is retiring from the British Secret Service to live in a world at peace. The picture above the fireplace changes to a cheerful one of sailing boats and the sun shines in through the apartment window in a homage to Carlson's success, as he contemplates "one can only imagine how things could have been.... would have been, if we had failed".
